Do I need to go offline to play my offline music or will it automatically switch streaming to downloaded songs? I have been switching offline to play my downloaded music but would like to go from a song that's not dowloaded to a a downloaded song.

Thanks! I believe when you're online though there are no arrows. That's why it's hard to tell. I don' think there's actually an idicator for that? /it would make sense to hop over to non streaming automatically....
So far I've been switch to offline mode an listening to my offline playlist but I have a few play list that are a mixture of off and online. I'd like to think it knows better....Wish i had unlimited data.
But I can tell you FOR SURE that it doesn't stream anything. Because once I accidentally removed the offline setting for a playlist and was listening on the road to my music.. After an hour or something my traffic was fully exhausted. Usually I listen couple of hours outdoors every day and if the songs are downloaded it isn't streaming anything. Plus, I've never used offline mode (only on plane with in-phone-settings and not in-app).
The information provided by Carina doesn't seem to be accurate. All the music that I have listened to in Spotify this month with not exceptions has been downloaded, but if I check how much data Spotify has consumed in this period it shows more than 12 GB of data. So there are two option, either the application is streaming despite the fact that the music has been downloaded or the app has some sort of bug that is draining GB of data for no reason. It would be great if someone could clarify exactly what the Spotify app is doing. My best guess is that it is streaming the music despite the fact that the song is available on my phone and that would explain the behavior described by Switchbl4d3 .

To avoid this and save us from being "blasted" unexpectedly, online streaming services measure loudness, and turn down music recorded at higher levels. We call this reduction the "Loudness Penalty" - the higher the level your music is mastered at, the bigger the penalty could be. But all the streaming services achieve this in different ways, and give different values, which makes it really hard to know how big the Loudness Penalty will be for your music...
Simply select any WAV, MP3 or AAC file above, and within seconds we'll provide you with an accurate measurement of the Loudness Penalty for your music on many of the most popular music streaming services, and allow you to preview how it will sound for easy comparison with your favorite reference material.
Find out how to optimize your music for impactful, punchy playback (and maximum encode quality) for all the online streaming services. Plus, receive a Loudness Penalty Report for your file that explains in detail what all the numbers mean.
We've tried to make the Loudness Penalty site simple and intuitive, but online loudness is a complex topic. To help you take maximum advantage of what Loudness Penalty scores can tell you, we've put together a short series of emails to tell you everything you need to know about how LP will affect your music and how to get the best results.
Notably, Spotify tried and ultimately walked away from buying Soundcloud, another music streaming platform that is popular with the creator community. This acquisition signals one way that Spotify may be looking to try to address that community regardless, and that it continues to eye up the opportunity for providing more services for creators alongside distribution.
As of today, Lyrics are available to all Free and Premium users globally across iOS and Android devices, desktop, gaming consoles,* and TV, so that millions of fans can connect with the music and artists they love on an even deeper level.
Spotify (/ˈspɒtɪfaɪ/; .mw-parser-output .IPA-label-smallfont-size:85%.mw-parser-output .references .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .infobox .IPA-label-small,.mw-parser-output .navbox .IPA-label-smallfont-size:100%Swedish: [ˈspɔ̂tːɪfaj]) is a Swedish[6] audio streaming and media services provider founded on 23 April 2006 by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon.[7] It is one of the largest music streaming service providers, with over 590 million monthly active users, including 226 million paying subscribers, as of September 2023.[4][8] Spotify is listed (through a Luxembourg City-domiciled holding company, Spotify Technology S.A.[1]) on the New York Stock Exchange in the form of American depositary receipts.
Spotify offers digital copyright restricted recorded audio content, including more than 100 million songs and five million podcasts, from record labels and media companies.[8] As a freemium service, basic features are free with advertisements and limited control, while additional features, such as offline listening and commercial-free listening, are offered via paid subscriptions. Users can search for music based on artist, album, or genre, and can create, edit, and share playlists.
Unlike physical or download sales, which pay artists a fixed price per song or album sold, Spotify pays royalties based on the number of artist streams as a proportion of total songs streamed. It distributes approximately 70% of its total revenue to rights holders (often record labels), who then pay artists based on individual agreements.[14] While certain musicians have voiced objections to Spotify's royalty structure and its effect on record sales, others laud the service for offering a lawful option to combat piracy and for remunerating artists each time their music is played.[15]
The Financial Times reported in March 2017 that, as part of its efforts to renegotiate new licensing deals with music labels, Spotify and major record labels had agreed that Spotify would restrict some newly released albums to its Premium tier, with Spotify receiving a reduction in royalty fees to do so. Select albums would be available only on the Premium tier for a period of time, before general release. The deal "may be months away from being finalized, but Spotify is said to have cleared this particular clause with major record labels".[49][50][51] New reports in April confirmed that Spotify and Universal Music Group had reached an agreement to allow artists part of Universal to limit their new album releases to the Premium service tier for a maximum of two weeks. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek commented that "We know that not every album by every artist should be released the same way, and we've worked hard with UMG to develop a new, flexible release policy. Starting today, Universal artists can choose to release new albums on premium only for two weeks, offering subscribers an earlier chance to explore the complete creative work, while the singles are available across Spotify for all our listeners to enjoy".[52][53][54] It was announced later in April that this type of agreement would be extended to indie artists signed to the Merlin Network agency.[55][56]
